BIG BOY UNDIES!!!

We have been getting Grayson to go potty on the toilet since January. But we have never put him in big boy underwear he kept wearing diapers it was just a ..."Oh your diaper is dry so let's go potty in the toilet!" I think that's been helpful because he's not scared to sit on the toilet and I'm not having to TEACH him how to go to the bathroom. He already knows how so our biggest thing is helping him know WHEN he needs to go. He used to tell me "mommy I go pee pee in my diaper" So he knows what pee pee is but he needs to know BEFORE he goes in his underwear now. 

I really didn't have much interest in potty training him because I have watched others try and struggle and have multiple accidents. I just didn't want to worry about that. Mostly because I knew we were having a baby, then we were moving, then Chris has been stressing about the DAT so it just wasn't worth the stress to me. I've been noticing feeling akward when changing his diaper...only because he is sooo big and long now that getting him to lift up his bum while I wipe things up is just becoming complicated and difficult. Well this last week Gray started having really nasty Number 2's. Yesterday I changed one and it was just so disgusting and like I said...getting him to hold up his bum is difficult due to his size now. I immediately called Chris. "Where are you? Are you coming home?" "Yeah...I'm headed to the Worthington's to drop of the Apples...What's up?" "Well when you get home be prepared to go to the store...we're buying underwear!" hahaha. I was just frustrated and over changing nasty poopy diapers. Then of course Gray had another one later that night. DISGUSTING! 

So today Gray got up and when we were all ready we had him hop on the toilet, go potty, and put on his big boy underwear! He's gone about 5 or 6 times now. I first started every 15 minutes. Then had him drink a lot of chocolate milk (a special treat) I changed the time to 20 minutes. And we are now going every 30 minutes. He's doing awesome. But it's not even noon yet! hahaha. Guess we're in for a treat. I just keep trying to ask him if he needs to go and remind him that we don't pee or poop in our big boy underwear. That way it's fresh on his mind. I've gotten a lot of great tips and ideas so I'm just starting with the basics and if we need to do more then I will move forward. I'm really hoping we don't have accidents. But i'm sure it's bound to happen sometime!!
