Mucus What?! GROSS!!!

So if you've been through all of my prego posts you know that my body never really progressed or went into labor on it's own. I was induced at 39 weeks and even after everything my doctor did to get my cervix to dilate it never happened. So I had a c-section. This time around I am going to the American Fork Midwives which I have absolutely LOVED! They started me on a few things the last couple weeks in order to get my body to do something...mostly to start softening my cervix. One of these pills is called the Evening Primrose Oils and I place about 6 of them close to my cervix at night with a tiny poked hole in them so they slowly dissolve over night. This is supposed to help soften my cervix. At my last appointment at about 35 1/2 weeks the midwife checked me and said I was 60% effaced but still not dilated any. So I guess that's a good sign that my cervix is softening! Well last night at around 2am I went to go pee and 2 large glops of goopy SNOT lookin stuff came out. Sorry if this is too gross don't read. I didn't think too much of it just that it was odd. This morning I started thinking more about it and what it could have been because it wasn't the oils from the pills. A light bulb went off and I thought "I've heard somewhere about some mucus plug thingy" So I started searching on google and texting girlfriends and my mom and mother in law to see what they had to say. Well after all my reading and searching I am positive it was my mucus plug!!! Pretty gross. Anyway from what I've read the baby could come in a few days and she could come in weeks! I'm not having any major cramping or contractions that I haven't already been having. There is no blood so I am not planning on her anytime soon. One exciting thing though is that this means my body is working and my cervix is figuring things out! Happy day for me!!! I have my next appointment this Thursday so we shall see if I have dilated or anything!!! I will keep you posted. : >

  1. Wow! I can't believe they have you gettin ready and checking you so early! My doctor doesn't even start checking me until 37 weeks. I'm ok with that though because let's be honest, it is not a comfortable process! To answer your question from awhile ago (sorry) I have a weird uterus that is basically misshapen. If the baby is breech there would be no chance of turning him because of its shape and therefore I would be guaranteed a c-section. I'll find out next week which way the baby is laying so hopefully we'll get good news!
